MISSION: STREETLIGHTS

Streetlights started as a deeply personal calling for me and a few close friends. We’re a team of creative communicators who feel passionate about bringing the Gospel of Jesus to urban communities around the world—through music, teaching, storytelling, and visuals—so that anyone, no matter their background or education, can understand God’s Word.
The idea for the Streetlights Audio Bible was born in the basement of a small church in Chicago. I remember watching a group of young guys struggle to engage with the Bible—not because they didn’t care, but because the format just didn’t connect with them for various social and educational reasons. I felt that deeply. So I recorded Acts 2 and 3 over Hip Hop beats—something raw, honest, and true to our culture. And it resonated. That moment lit a fire in me and carried over into a mission that would be birthed through Aaron Lopez and Loren La Luz - with many other helping organizations and people along the way.
What started as one recording turned into a vision: a multimedia Bible that could reach hearts in a way that felt familiar, diverse, accessible and overall like the streets we walk and live in everyday. Under the support of GRIP Outreach for Youth, and with help from Humble Beast Records and a community of artists, we began working on the English Audio Bible. Soon after, it started spreading—youth leaders, churches, and communities across the world began using it. It became clear: people everywhere were hungry for this kind of connection to Scripture.
We then followed a call by God to help the global, urban community very similar to ours in Chicago- both in need and in heart language. So we expanded—adding Spanish Audio Bibles, teaching tools, and our music lanes through ALERT312. By 2019, Streetlights officially became its own nonprofit so we could better serve this growing, global demand.
Today, with studios and teams in both Chicago and Puerto Rico, we’re still on mission—bringing God’s Word to life in creative, culturally relevant ways that break barriers and build bridges. This isn’t just our work—it’s our heart. Come give us and our team a visit! - eB
